University Students Worldwide Join Pope Benedict XVI in Rosary Vigil
Paus: “Westen moet zich herbezinnen”
At the Rosary Vigil yesterday, the Pope mentioned that youths and young adults have always been the “pioneers and examples of the Christian live” (my translation from link #2), mentioning among others St. Benedict, St. Francis and St. Rosa the Lima (which struck me since I’ve always pictured St. Benedict as a guy with a beard – a grey beard).
Although I know it has been said before, in particular, of course, by Papa JPII, I think it’s very good that the Pope mentions this, especially when directed at college students in the western world, as he did on this occasion. Lots of us grew up in parishes where volunteer life is centered on climbing up to the highest post, which is being coordinator of the Visits to the Elderly Committee, which one aspires to achieve before one becomes part of the target audience for said committee. A reminder, now and then, that we have a place too (and it’s groovy) is rather welcome.
By the way, it’s probably a good thing that a couple of us were already planning to take over the world (beware, for we have rosaries and are not afraid to use them) or we could be the slightest bit overwhelmed by this subtle hint from our holy father…
